In 2013, Expol Security Services established an animal rehabilitation centre in Vaalwater,
Limpopo. The centre rehabilitates and cares for animals- including leopards, lions cheetahs,
caracals and servals- that have been injured or orphaned by poaching or illegal trade in wildlife.
When our two male lions were barbarically poached in 2017, we were driven to create an antipoaching unit for the Vaalwater, Limpopo region. This unit comprises highly trained ground
teams, anti-poaching track dogs and air support, as well as first-of-its-kind “lion remains” dogtracking unit. These dogs are trained to pick up and pinpoint the scent of lions parts (paws and
lower jaws.)
